Tom Holland Had His ID Rejected While Trying to Buy His Own Non-Alcoholic Beer Brand: ‘Kind of Ironic’

Even though Tom Holland is one of the most well-known people in Hollywood, he still confronts the age-old retail dilemma of being swiped at the register. The 27-year-old Spider-Man actor recently revealed a comical story about how the retailer refused to accept his ID, preventing him from getting his own mild non-alcoholic beer.

Holland recalled the incident with a giggle in a brand-promoting interview. “I went into a store, saw my beer on the shelf, and thought, ‘Oh, cool, I’ll buy a case.'” But things took a surprising turn when he reached the counter. “I gave them my ID when the cashier asked for it, not giving it any thought. However, they simply gazed at it, at me, and said, ‘Sorry, we can’t accept this.’”

The Ironic Twist

The irony wasn’t lost on Holland, who found himself in the odd position of not being able to buy a product that actually had his name attached to it. “I was like, ‘But it’s my beer!'” he laughs. “I helped make it, and my face is all over the label.” Still, the store stuck to its policy.
To make things even funnier, the non-alcoholic beer didn’t even require ID to begin with. Many non-alcoholic drinks (those with an alcohol content of 0.5% ABV or less) don’t fall under the same legal restrictions as regular beer, but stores sometimes enforce their own policies.
“So I walked away empty-handed,” Holland admits, “which was ironic, because I was advertising it everywhere.”

A Personal Passion Project

After deciding to pursue sobriety on his own, Holland co-founded the non-alcoholic beer company Mild, his most recent passion project. The actor has been candid about his choice to give up alcohol, stating that he needed to improve his health and balance in his life. “I realized that I wasn’t in control of my relationship with alcohol,” he has said in earlier interviews. “So I decided to stay away from it.”

Holland has positioned Mild from its launch as a tasty and cool substitute for people who wish to sample beer without getting a hangover. Although the product has been warmly accepted, some ID confusion still occurs, even for its developer.

Fans React

Naturally, this story was a huge hit on the internet. Comments such as “Even Spider-Man couldn’t avoid an awkward ID check” and “Tom Holland being denied his own beer is the height of 2024 energy” were posted on social media by fans. He should call Zendaya to save him, some even joked.

Holland handled everything calmly in spite of the tragedy. He jokingly said, “Hey, if anything, it shows that the beer is real.” “Perhaps I’ll just bring my own keg from home the next time.”
